In this Senior Living Minute, Tripp Higgins shares his personal story of how senior living communities foster deep, meaningful connections. His journey began as a professional, but after experiencing the power of community firsthand during a difficult time in his life, he gained a new appreciation for the impact of senior living.
Discover how a sense of belonging and support can make all the difference.
Community is the greatest benefit of any senior living campus. My story is a little different than most.
I started working in senior living in 2009 because my wife was battling her third round of breast cancer. I needed to be home, to have flexibility, and to work in an environment that understood life’s challenges. What I didn’t expect was to be given the gift of community.
Being on campus, I saw people who had their own struggles and challenges, but also found incredible support. You quickly realize that being together, in an environment that fosters connection, is truly magical.
Unfortunately, my wife lost her battle six months into my tenure, but the beautiful thing was that we shared those last six months surrounded by community. That experience shaped my passion for senior living, and today, I help educate seniors across the country on why choosing a community is one of the best decisions they can make.
