The key to success? Never stop learning.
In this Senior Living Minute, Christy Van Der Westhuizen shares how surrounding yourself with books, quotes, and inspiration can drive continuous growth. She believes that learning is a lifelong journey and that what we know is constantly evolving.
Learn why taking action before you feel ready—even if it’s imperfect—can make a lasting impact and how embracing failure is an essential step toward success.
The reason I keep so many books around my desk at all times is to remind myself that I am a learning being. What I thought I knew before is constantly being challenged, reshaped, and reformed.
I also keep little daily quotes nearby. Sometimes I’ll pick one at random, like, ‘Start before you’re ready. Don’t prepare—begin.’ And I’ll think, ‘I can do that.’ Even if I don’t feel ready, I can take action on something that may be half-baked but could still make a difference in someone’s life.
I like to surround myself with books, quotes, and pictures as a constant reminder that I am always learning. I am never perfect, and I never will be—and that’s okay. Making mistakes and even failing miserably is just part of the journey toward success.
