Transcript: Dementia Inclusion Is a Big Opportunity for Senior Living

I believe dementia is the future—not a question of whether we like it or not, but simply the truth. Senior living is about dementia, and dementia will continue to shape the future of our industry because it is deeply connected to the aging experience.

What really excites me is the growing conversation around dementia inclusion. Historically, individuals living with dementia were physically restrained, but today, we are seeing exciting discussions about how we can be as inclusive as possible.

I don’t shy away from saying, I love dementia. It is a part of aging. Even if Alzheimer’s were cured today, cognitive change would still be a natural part of life. If we don’t pass from an accident, cancer, or another disease, we will all experience some form of cognitive journey.

This is where senior living has a huge opportunity—to rethink, reinvent itself, and create more inclusive environments that truly serve individuals living with dementia.
